A selection of paintings in both vertical and horizontal format, the
pictorial components within them may be described as abstract and
representational. These components include the landscape and its
properties, the sky and the earth. The abstract components described
as frames, planes and colour fields are the structural devices used in
the composition of the paintings to support and enhance the
landscapes' natural elements. The additional and most active
component in all these artworks is colour which provides both subtlety
and drama. Its use, as a pigment, by association creates the means to
recognise the natural elements perceived in the landscape.
Works may be viewed as contemplative, landscape abstractions conveying
mood-related experiences or as a minimal representational definition
of the landscape.
